此外消息人士还称《现代战争4》这一次不会有专家角色。在《使命召唤》游戏中，专家角色有自己独特的技能和故事背景，为系列多人模式带来了战术元素。
由于放弃了专家角色，《现代战争4》的多人模式中玩家使用的则是普通游戏角色，回归系列本源。这意味着本作的传统多人对战，没有特殊角色能力，只是武器枪法之间的较量。
当然以上仅仅是传言，可信度并不高，而且还和之前的传言相冲突。根据之前的传言，《使命召唤16》是有大逃杀模式的，地图是雪山，将有普莱斯，Ghost，肥皂等可操作角色。
当然，《使命召唤16：现代战争4》回归系列本源自然是一个很好的想法。《使命召唤》玩家社区对放弃单人战役和加入专家角色并不都是那么赞同。虽然大逃杀模式接受程度更好一些，但并没有引起像《堡垒之夜》、《绝地求生》和《Apex英雄》那样的火爆程度。
