近日英特尔首席执行官陈立武（Lip-Bu Tan）在财报电话会议上明确表示，Intel 14A制程节点取决于客户的承诺，既包括了英特尔本身，也包括了潜在的第三方客户，最重要的是，是否有足够的业务让英特尔在即将到来的制程节点上赚钱。
据9to5Mac报道，最近的一份研究报告指出，苹果和英特尔都在考虑Intel 14A工艺，作为部分芯片的第二生产来源。其中苹果会用于某些M系列移动芯片，搭载在MacBook机型上，英伟达则可能用于部分“低端”GPU芯片。
近年来，随着采用台积电（TSMC）先进工艺的芯片价格不断上涨，不少芯片设计公司都希望能引入双代工厂策略，不但能更好地控制成本，而且还能分散供应链风险。高通一直想这么做，无奈三星的良品率始终没有达到令人满意的水平。与高通不同，苹果和英伟达的眼光放到了英特尔身上，可能会在未来的产品中转向Intel 14A，预计新工艺于2027年进入风险生产阶段，2028年实现量产。
据推测，苹果可能在M8系列芯片上引入英特尔作为第二代工厂，英伟达可能要等到2028年的Feynman架构。由于三星已宣布1.4nm工艺延后至2029年量产，几年后除了台积电外，能提供给厂商的前沿半导体制造工艺并不多，不过Rapidus的2nm工艺或许也是潜在的替代品。
