在《太阳之子》中，玩家扮演的主角名为“女孩”，她在反派势力“邪教”的洗脑下长大，而女孩在挣脱控制后选择踏上复仇之路，只身一人向着神秘的邪教首领“头目”还击。
《太阳之子》就像是一部画风迷幻、风格摇滚的复仇主题公路大片，让人血脉偾张的精准狙击和烧脑的解密带来了宛如电影般的视听感受。而在以上核心玩法中，游戏加入了最致命也最让人上瘾的设定——每个关卡只能发射一枚子弹。
不必担心这样的设定会让游戏变得单调，“女孩”仍能通过心灵感应能力违抗各类物理法则，使子弹重新瞄准、让它实现绕过目标等复杂动作。
